The course utilizes a multi-page grid to contrast and examine income tax and operating characteristics of all operational business entity choices. The instructor leads through the discussion, analyzation and case study questions and answers to help the tax professional determine the appropriate business type for a client based upon the client’s hierarchy of important characteristics. We also discuss the requirements for the “S” election, and business acquisition tax issues and compliance requirements.
This course is designed to provide the student with an analysis, through multiple short case studies, of the dozens of income tax and operational characteristics relevant in helping a client choose a business structure. The discussion should also enable the student to make an “S” election and to provide clients with information on certain unusual issues such as buy/sell agreements, common paymasters, and business purchases.
